Giant pumpkins are paddled across the lake in this unique boating race.
The Pacific Northwest has some interesting traditions and one of them is the Pumpkin Regatta. Rated the Oregon’s best October event, the regatta entails sporting a unique costume, getting into an actual over-sized gourd, and racing for victory! If you’re feeling festive this fall, be sure to check out the West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta in Tualatin.
The West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta has been featured on various television networks and attractions competitors and spectators from across the country, along with Canada. Giant pumpkins are carved into aquatic vessels. Competitors will hop in, take their paddles, and attempt to make it across the finish line. Everyone has an opportunity to win a variety of prizes, including best costume. In addition to the pumpkin action, follow clues and participate in the Regatta Medallion Hunt. The event also includes the Regatta Run 5K Walk or Run, which benefits Corporal Matthew Lembke’s scholarship fund. Lembke lost his life during his third tour of duty in Afghanistan.
The Crowne Plaza Portland-Lake Oswego welcomes all those who are traveling into the Portland area for this exciting event! After the regatta, join us for dinner at Basil’s Kitchen and savor the flavors of the Pacific Northwest. Continue the water fun in our indoor pool and whirlpool.
